A summer to remember!

My summer has been so busy that I have not updated in a very long time. There are only 4 weeks left, but what  a summer it has been! The kids have been involved in too many activities to mention, but all very enjoyable. The highlights were a fantastic camping trip with several church families to Prince Gallitzin State Park, and a trip to the beaches and mountains of New England with my youngest 3 kids. I needed to get back home to my ocean and I also visited some elderly relatives. But, as most of you who read this most likely already know, dance4aneternity got engaged to naturegod on Saturday evening!! We are all so excited and happy for both of them, and they are planning to get married sometime in the late summer of 2009. We pray that God will richly bless their marriage, and guide and direct their lives according to His perfect will. Wow-- it will be quite a summer with kleinekatze graduating from high school, wesjanson graduating from college, and now a wedding for dance4anternity!! As I said in my last post, I was aware that we were "on the brink" of huge changes, and it seems that the "brink" has been crossed. Sometimes I have a hard time taking it all in, but then I realize that God is the only one that can give me the peace I need to get through it all. I would appreciate your prayers for me, as we will need extra energy and wisdom for all that lies ahead.

Thoughts.....

As I sat in church this past Sunday with all 7 of us together, it suddenly hit me that we are on the brink of the end of life as I have known it for the past 21 years. My kids are all entering new phases of their lives, and all 7 of us will not be sitting in church together, or at the dinner table together, much longer. I had my 5 kids from age 30-39 and now, in the blink of an eye, it is 2 decades later. In a few short years they will all most likely be gone, just like that. It hit me that each one of them are on the brink of new and exciting chapters in their lives-- and we are waiting for God's plans to unfold. Child #1 will be a college senior and is looking at grad schools/seminaries not close to home; #2 is moving to an apartment in August; #3 will be a high school senior and is applying at 4 colleges not close to home; #4 will be soon driving and wants to get a job. #5 (my baby) is going to be making the transition back to homeschool from the public school in the fall as a 7th grader. As it looks now we will only have 2 kids left in the house in  September of 2009. My mother's heart is sad, but also so excited for what the future may hold for each one of them!  I will savor each day that we can all be together, and prepare myself to rejoice as they "fly away" to whatever exciting things God has in store.

On a side note, please pray for Kleinekatze as she embarks on a 3-week trip to Germany as an exchange student on Saturday! We are so excited for her, and she will be greatly missed.

An evening to remember.......

Today as I write this and look out at the cold, gray rain, it seems as if it was only a dream. But God was so good to allow a few hours of bright sunshine and warm breezes on Kleinekatze's special evening when she went to the junior prom with SF. The two of them looked stunning as we took pictures at our house and by Spring Creek, and then off they went to dine at The Tavern, and then on to the Bryce Jordan Center for the prom.

Upon their arrival home both families gathered to eat ice cream at our house (including 4 grandparents!) and hear about the lovely time they had-- an evening they will long remember!
